Solitary insects that resemble bumblebees. Unlike bumblebees, they tunnel into wood structures — decks, fences, fascia boards, and siding — to lay their eggs. Over time, repeated tunnelling causes significant structural damage. Though less aggressive than wasps, carpenter bees should be treated before the damage compounds.
Attracted to sweet foods and sugary drinks, yellow jackets are a major nuisance at outdoor events and barbecues. They can sting repeatedly when disturbed and build nests underground or in wall voids. Ground nests are particularly dangerous as they are easy to disturb accidentally.
